Sabalenka’s 12th consecutive major quarterfinals – Now

Aryna Sabalenka continues to be consistent in the biggest stage of the sport in New York, with the world’s No. 1 being Cristina Bucsa of Spain, driving her position in the U.S. Open quarterfinals 6-3, 6-2.
With the victory, Sabalenka now hits the final eight games with 12 consecutive Grand Slams, an achievement that emphasizes her dominance and durability. She became the first player since Victoria Azarenka (2012-14), reaching the quarter-finals at both the Australian Open and the U.S. Open for three consecutive seasons, with only the fourth-placed woman finishing the No. 1 quarter-slam quarter-finals in one season. Martina Hingis (2000), Lindsay Davenport (2005) and Serena Williams (2015-16) are the only others on this list.

“I feel very proud. I think it’s an incredible achievement,” Sabalenka said. “I think for me, the key is to balance life on and off the court. I think I’ve done a great job in balancing hard work, healing and having a good time off the tennis court. I think that’s the key. I feel like I’m really enjoying my journey, my life, and I think that’s the main thing.”
For players once defined by volatility, the transition to a consistency model is amazing. Since reaching the 2021 U.S. Open semifinal, the Belarusian has added three major championships and a steady depth run to her resume, and her unshakable ability to stand out in a violent atmosphere of pressure. At the moment of her decision, she almost became unshakable in the 18 consecutive tiebreakers.
Best seed Sabalenka will face Marketa Vondrousova in the quarterfinals.
