Sabalenka was honored in a special on-court ceremony ahead of the WTA Finals where she received the coveted year-end No. 1 trophy, celebrating another dominant season in which she won another Grand Slam title and topped the rankings.

Sabalenka is now one of only 13 players in WTA history to win the season No. 1 title multiple times. Sabalenka ascended to the world No. 1 position for the second time and has held the top spot for 54 consecutive weeks and a total of 62 weeks, ranking 13th in history.

“It means a lot to me,” Sabalenka said. This year, we have put in a lot of hard work, and the hard work has been rewarded. Every final and every game has been unbelievable and I’m very proud of the season and hopefully I can do well in Riyadh. “

In WTA history, 29 women have held the world No. 1 ranking, and 16 different women have finished the year at No. 1 in a season.
