Alexander Blockx qualified for the Next Generation ATP Finals hosted by PIF for the first time. The 20-year-old will become the first Belgian player to compete in the 20-and-under event.

Blockx opened the 2025 season in Portugal, winning the ATP Challenger Tour title in Oeiras, his second success at this level. He then qualified for the ATP Masters 1000 event in Miami before reaching the finals at the Winnipeg Challengers Tour.

everything adds up

Blockx recorded his first victory at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Cincinnati, defeating Marcos Giron. The 20-year-old ended the season with another Challenger Tour title in Bratislava and a Tour-level win in Metz.

Blockx started the year outside the top 200 in the PIF ATP rankings but has made steady progress, rising to a career-high No. 101 in November.

Brox’s parents were both Ukrainian professional athletes, his father Oleg was a track and field athlete specializing in hurdles and his mother Natalia was a swimmer. Despite his diverse athletic background, Bullocks never played any sport other than tennis.

Blockx is coached by Philippe Cassiers, a 6-foot-4 Antwerp native who has coached the rising star since he was 4 years old. A highlight of their partnership came in 2023, when Blockx became the No. 1 singles and doubles player in the junior division.

The 2025 Next Generation ATP Finals, hosted by PIF, will be held from December 17th to 21st. Former champions include Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
