SpiceJet finalizes leasing of 8 Boeing 737 aircraft, increasing winter schedule to 18

Private sector Spicejet said Tuesday it has budgeted a lease agreement for eight Boeing 737 aircraft. The latest addition is to increase the airline’s winter schedule fleet to 18 aircraft.
When India prepares for the festival, then the winter holidays later this year.
The country’s holiday season (usually starting in October and extending into February) leads to an additional demand for travel bookings when people plan their winter vacations.

The airline said in its regulatory filing that the planned fleet increase would strengthen its commitment to meet the growing commitment of air travel for the coming festivals and winter.

The airline’s shares were firmly traded in Green after the news, with shares in the airline gaining 2.2% to Rs 33.2 on BSE.
