Medvedev on “Interesting New Projects in My Career”

Daniil Medvedev is the second seed of Lynk & Co Hangzhou Open.

Daniil Medvedev hopes to turn the disappointing 2025 season ahead of the Lynk & Co Hangzhou Open. Falling to No. 18 in the PIF ATP ranking, his goal is to rebound and rediscover the form that once made him a member of the prestigious ATP No. 1 club.

The 2020 Nitto ATP Finals champion will be in his first game after defeating Benjamin Bonzi in the opening round of the U.S. Open after a separation from his longtime coach Gilles Cervara. In a pre-match press conference, Medvedev shared that he had been working with Thomas Johnson and Rohan Gotzker.

“It wasn’t an easy decision, but I’d love to try it with them for the rest of the season [next] Season, I want to see how things are going. ” he said.

“I love the way they work. I love what they say, and it’s an interesting new project in my career.”

All of this adds up

He also revealed that after the U.S. Open was charged, he took a break and then returned to training Monte-Carlo to prepare for the upcoming Asian swing.

“I [did] Don’t play tennis for two weeks after the U.S. Open because I know even the next game will be played for a while. ” he said.

“I had a really good week of practice last week. This year I played some of my best tennis, maybe my best tennis. The goal is to try to reproduce that on the court because if I can do that, I will be able to win games or play well, which is the most important to me.”

The 29-year-old finished second in Hangzhou and will face qualifiers Nishesh Basavareddy or Marin Cilic in his opening match. According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, he has a record of 26-18 this season.
