Stock market crash: Sensex drops 849 points, Nifty50 sinks below 24,750, based on widespread sell-off; bulls stare at the source of tariffs

Domestic equity benchmarks suffered a huge loss on Tuesday as an official notice from investors confirmed the Trump 2.0 administration’s move to reduce India’s total commodity tax to 50%, a widespread sell-off led by financial stocks.
Both title indexes fell 1.0% on the day. Sensex gave up 849.4 points and finally ended at 80,786.5, while Nifty50 lost 255.7 points to stabilize at 24,712.1.
25% additional taxes effective Wednesday – will bring the total tax to 50%.
