Boise, Idaho – It is the day of trial for former aspiring criminologist Bryan Kohberger, who killed four University of Idaho students in a family invasion ambush in November 2022.
The 30-year-old is studying for a Ph.D. Drive about 10 miles at Washington State University in Pullman and arrive at the off-campus rental house at 1122 King Road, State University in Moscow, Idaho.
During a plea hearing on July 2, he admitted to killing four young people: Madison Mogen, 21, Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Xana Kernodle (20) and Ethan Chapin, 20.
Their family is expected to have a statement of impact on the victims directly in court today during a sentencing hearing expected throughout the day.

Mogen and Goncalves were best friends were killed in the third floor bedroom. Kohberger’s key mistake—the only publicly publicly physical evidence that tied him to crime—is the Ka-Bar knife sheath he left under Mogen’s body. Police found his DNA in the snapshot.
On the second floor, the kernel is sober and received delivery from Doordash a few minutes ago. Koberg killed her and turned the knife over her sleeping boyfriend, Chapin, who spent the night.
A surviving roommate told the police that she heard crying and a man’s voice said something: “It’s okay. I’m going to help.” Then she saw a masked man with “thick eyebrows” throwing out the back door. He did not attack her for whatever reason.

The victim’s family was separated by a plea agreement that required Koberg to waive his right to appeal and deprive him of the right to sentence under Idaho law. Some families (but not all) are expected to issue victim impact statements throughout the day predicted by litigation court officials.
It’s not clear what Koberg would say.
While the plea deal does not require Koberg to explain his actions at a July 2 hearing, Goncavis’s father and many others, including President Trump, said they hope he needs to provide more details in the verdict.

Chapin’s parents and Kernel and Mogen’s mother both expressed support for the plea agreement, which would save them from years of appeals and trial trauma.
In exchange for his confession, Kohberger avoided the death penalty and was expected to be subject to the maximum penalty of four consecutive life sentences, no possibility of parole, plus a decade.
His verdict begins Wednesday at 9 a.m. and East at 11 a.m.
