Telecom Minister Jyotiradiitya Scindia meets with Vodafone Creative CEO Jio today; AGR, 6G, Satellite Internet on the Agenda

Telecom Minister Jyotiradiitya Scindia plans to meet with senior executives of India’s leading telecommunications companies at the TSP courtesy meeting today. Discussions are expected to cover key industry issues including AGR, 6G technology, satellite internet, “We Lead” program, localization and overall industry growth.
The conference will enable Vodafone’s creative Akash Ambani to represent Reliance Jio and Abhijit Kishore. This would be the first interaction between the minister and Vodafone’s idea as the government showed flexibility following the Supreme Court’s ruling on AGR dues, according to which Vodafone’s idea received a cumulative statutory dues on the payment timeline.
Officials said the discussion aims to strengthen cooperation between the government and telecom service providers while mapping the path to next-generation technology and the expansion of India’s digital infrastructure. The Minister is expected to address regulatory clarity, sectoral challenges and support for Indigenous technological development.
The meeting was held at a time when the telecommunications sector was outside regulatory pressures, evolving technical standards and competition, and the need for investment in 6G and satellite Internet infrastructure. Analysts expect the discussion will provide guidance on policy directions and express the government’s intention to balance sector growth with the financial sustainability of telecom operators.
