Tennis sweeps Tiafoe to advance to Miami semifinals – Tennis Now

Sinner hit his 14th ace on the catwalk to beat Tiafoe 6-2, 6-2 to extend his streak of reaching the Miami Open semifinals.
Second seed Sinner has won 15 consecutive matches at the ATP Masters 1000 level, including a record 30-match winning streak at the ATP Masters 1000 level.
Indian Wells champion Sinner is now just two wins away from becoming the first man to complete the Sunshine Double since then Roger Federer 2017.
Sinner’s next opponent is third-seeded Alexander Zverev or 18th-seeded Argentine Francisco Cerundolo in tomorrow’s semifinals.
Sinner hit the ball harder today, injecting more spin into his offense and allowing Tiafoe to run into the corners repeatedly to defend deep strikes.
Sinner had more than four times Tiafoe’s win total (33 to 7) and was dominant from start to finish.
Wimbledon champion Sinner broke serve first and extended the lead to 4-1 with an authoritative serve. Sinner opened the match at love.
Sinner pulled Tiafoe to her forehand side and made a series of break errors to lead 2-1 in the second set. Sinner hit consecutive ACE balls in the T area on the 15th, extending the lead to 3-1.
Sinner showed off his speed and anticipation as he hit a lob, backed all the way to the baseline and sliced a smash down the sideline to put a Love-30 lead in the seventh. Tiafoe missed a wild forehand miss to give up the break on Love and lead Sinner 5-2.
A refreshed Sinner hit his 14th ace to improve his season record to 17-2. Sinner extended his winning streak against the United States to 29 matches since losing to Ben Shelton at the 2023 Shanghai Masters.
