A CPS spokesman told the BBC: “We will now carefully consider the evidence to determine whether any further criminal charges should be filed.

“As always, we will make independent decisions based on evidence and test our law.”

Since Lebby was jailed, some MPs and medical experts have publicly challenged the evidence of prosecution that has been used to convict her, and some experts asked if any of the babies were actually murdered.

In an unrelated development, detectives said Tuesday they arrested three unnamed senior members of the Countess, the Countess, the leadership team of Chester Hospital, as part of a separate investigation into the individual and the Chester Hospital itself.
