Tehran shuts down public bathrooms amid national deep water crisis

Islamic Islamic Islamic (Didban Iran and Shargh News) reported that due to the severe water crisis nationwide, this is a government measure, which is becoming increasingly serious.

Didban Iran criticized the government for denying residents’ “basic needs” by deactivating services.

The Tehran city government has not commented on the reports, but witnesses confirmed that many public toilets, including the subway station, have been closed. According to estimates, there are about 20,000 public toilets in the Greater Tehran area.

The energy and water crisis has become the main concern for Iranians. In several areas of Tehran and at least 50 other cities, the water has been closed for up to 48 hours. The power outage that lasted for several hours made the air conditioner useless, even as the temperature soared to 40 to 50 degrees Celsius.

Many of the capital’s 15 million residents said in social media posts that it is almost impossible to live in such a situation.

President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration has urged people to use less water, but otherwise it seems helpless.

Other measures under consideration include reducing the working week from five to four, and even ordering a week of forced capital closures to save electricity and water.

But concerns about the economic impact of the program mean they have not been introduced yet.

Pezeshkian called the situation a “natural disaster” and could worsen in the next few weeks as the reservoir is nearly empty. He has considered relocation capital to prevent possible chaos.
