Teddi Mellencamp's son checks if she is still breathing cancer battle

“I think girls are OK because they're just talkative. They ask everything,” Melenkamp, 43, told Extra Thursday, April 17. “Cruz, he's a little confused because he didn't ask questions.”

“Today was a great day. I think what I learned from all this, I would feel good. Some days, I'm not. Everyone's journey is different,” Mellencamp told The Outlet. “What I want to say is that everyone is sending me a message, ‘I went and got tested.’ or “My doctor just got me tested and I said, “No, you should do that too.”
As the health war continues, Mellencamp is determined to raise awareness.
“What we have to remember is that my cancer is skin cancer. The last time we talked here, I had skin cancer on my back – melanoma. This metastasis, which is still a melanoma, but goes into my brain, goes into my lungs,” she explained. “Before I took them out, I had four plum-sized melanomas in my brain, and I didn't have a cat scan. But I've gone once and checked my skin every three months.”
Mellencamp will have another important date later this month, adding: “On Wednesday, I go in for the next cat scan, where they will find out if these recent tumors are getting smaller and smaller, and then I also got my third round of immunotherapy. I have always thought that radiation is radiation that kicks my butt, but immunotherapy, but immunotherapy.”
Although she announced her breakup from Arroyave in November 2024, Mellencamp confirmed they still live under the same roof.
“We're not together, but we put all the divorces on hold because divorce is very stressful,” she noted. “It's called nesting, but now most of the time there are these surgeries, and he'll stay in the house and then we spin. But we separate the bedrooms.”
She added: “He's a good guy, we have friendships, and it's first and foremost something we like each other. We laugh at each other, all these kinds of things, so I think it's really good. We call it a divorce chronicle, laugh at each other.”
