The most expensive cheese in the world is for sale for $42,232

July 8 (UPI) – Cabrales, aged 10 months in a cave, achieved the highest score in the 10-month race and won the Guinness World Record at auction for $42,232.

The cheese created by the Ángel Díaz Herrero cheese factory is sold by Dop Cabrales, the regulatory committee of Asturias, Spain, and is purchased by the restaurant El Llagar de Colloto.

The cheese raided the auction area after the regulatory committee DOP Cabrales named it “Mejor Queso del Certamen” or “Best Cheese in the Competition.”

The expensive cheese weighs 5 pounds and is made of milk and ages for 10 months in the Los Mazos Cave, which is nearly 5,000 feet above sea level.
