The next affordable MacBook could be powered by iPhone chips

The more affordable Apple MacBook may arrive, and there are also surprising chip options.

According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is developing a new MacBook that may have a 13-inch display and Apple A18 Pro chip. The chip hasn’t officially existed yet, but it is expected to power the next-generation iPhone Pro model.

This doesn’t necessarily mean that this MacBook is not motivated enough. Apple’s range of mobile phone chips are very powerful in size and extremely energy-saving, which may make this new MacBook the king of battery life.

For reference, the Apple A17 Pro chip that powers the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max phones is a six-core CPU with two performance cores and four energy-efficient cores, and comes with 8GB of RAM. It also integrates a hexa-core GPU and a 16-core neural engine.

Apple’s A-Series and M-Series chips share similar architectures, although M-Series chips typically run more cores at higher clock speeds, as well as larger cache sizes and support for certain MAC-specific features.
