Indian smartphone market rose 8% in the macroeconomic environment from April to June

India’s smartphone market grew 8% (YoY-Y increase with 18% value in the April-June quarter (Q2 2025), a report said on Wednesday, marking a solid rebound for the Silent Q1. The iPhone 16 was the most transported device in 2025, powered by ongoing promotions, expanded EMI options and improved retail execution, helping Apple register its highest second-quarter shipment in India.

According to Counterpoint’s “Monthly Indian Smartphone Tracker”, the recovery is driven by 33% of outstanding performance during the new launch, aggressive marketing and summer sales, with the brand offering steep discounts, Easy EMIS and bundled offers, especially in the mid-to-premium section.

“India’s smartphone market recovery in the second quarter of 2025 has improved macroeconomic environment, which has strengthened consumer confidence and spending. Retail inflation fell to six-year lows, eased pressure on household budgets, while central bank repurchase tax cuts make financing more accessible,” explained senior research analyst Prachir Singhs. ”

In addition, tax relief measures proposed earlier this year have increased disposable income and savings, creating a favorable setup for discretionary purchases, he said.

Improved sentiment facilitates a massive 37% increase in Super Advantage (Rs 45,000 and above), making it the fastest growing price level.

The report says Apple and Samsung take advantage of the trend with aggressive affordability plans such as trade plans, cost-free EMI and limited summer discounts, which makes flagship devices easier to use by ideal buyers.

“During Q2 2025, both OEMs and channels hosted several sales events, including parallel offline events, which helped some of the OEMs clear existing inventory and push for new launches. Samsung followed as the second-largest brand, supported by aggressive summer promotions on its A and S series and increased traction for its N-1 flagship upgrades, which helped sustain momentum in the mid to premium segments,” said research analyze Shubham Singh.

Nothing’s second quarter 2025 cargo jumped 146% year-on-year, making it the fastest growing brand for the sixth consecutive quarter, a feat. This growth is driven by the newly launched CMF Phone 2 Pro and the brand’s powerful retail expansion efforts.

The super premium segment by OnePlus grew 75% in Q2 2025, thanks to the outstanding performance of its 13 and 13R series, as well as the early traction of the newly launched compact 13S, reflecting the brand’s expanding premium portfolio.
