The spire collapses after torn through the historic Catholic Church

A fire destroyed a historical church loved by the community.

Crew members were summoned at Maria Stein’s Baptist Catholic Church fire at around 2:30 pm.,,,,, According to Joe Hartings, Fire Chief of Casso Voluntary Fire Department.

Hardings said workers on the roof had shingles when they saw the smoke and called 911.

At about 7 p.m., the church’s spire collapsed.

It is hard for a person walking distance from the church to see so many family memories destroyed.
“Even if you don’t have anything else to do, it’s hard to stand up,” Brad Spettel said.

The church dates back to the 1890s.
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati issued a statement saying they were “deeply saddened” by the damage caused by the fire.
