There are two more models of Kindle Colorsoft

come out The Kindle’s new e-reader lineup released last fall, perhaps the most groundbreaking feature is the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition (7/10, wired review), which contains the Kindle’s first color display. This is the only color color Amazon offers in the past nine months. There has been a change today.

This morning, Amazon announced the cheap 16GB version ($270) of the Kindle Colorsoft ($250) and the new Kindle Colorsoft Kids ($270) and now both models are available for shopping. They are all a little cheaper than the $280 signature version released last year. Signature Edition has encountered some problems, the device is malfunctioning, only time will explain (plus our tests, coming soon), and if these new versions are experiencing the same problem.

But if you are looking for a new Kindle in the market and want a color choice, you can start shopping today with all the details of the two new models.

There is already a Kindle Kids ($130) and Paperwhite Kids with black and white screens ($180), but the Kindle Colorsoft Kids ($270) brings these features into those and then wraps them into a color screen. Like the regular model, it comes with 16GB of storage, USB-C charging, an illustration cover, a one-year Amazon Kids+ digital subscription, and a two-year warranty. The New Colorsoft version also has a 7-inch monitor like Paperwhite Kids instead of the basic kids model, which is only 6-inch.

While the basic kids model and paper-white kids model have three covers to choose from (“Ocean Explorer”, “Space Whale” and “Unicorn Valley”, as well as “Basic Options”, “Cyber City”, “Wind Children’s Diary”, and “Starfish” for the “paperwhite” model), Colorsoft Kids only have two – charming and colorful “Fantasy” and “Fantasy” and “Starlight”. This river option has a river at dusk surrounded by pink clouds, various trees and a mixture of leaves and bubbles floating in the air, while a pink sky designed by starlight fills the pink sky, a child watching it.

Like other kid models, Colorsoft Kids will be a one-year subscription to Amazon Kids+. Amazon Kids+ offers a lot of age-appropriate books and content (such as audiobooks!), and Amazon says more will be added this summer. Kids+ runs $6 per month, and if you don’t buy a new Kids Kindle, you can get a free trial for free.

Especially for graphic novels and comic readers, color screens will be a good choice. If your kids are more of a classic book reader, they can still enjoy the colorful covers on the homepage and highlight their current book with colorful highlights.

If the price keeps you from investing in Colorsoft, the new, cheaper base model might be the perfect ignition for you. Priced at $40, retail for $240, including adjustable warm lights, such as the Kindle Paperwhite (8/10, Wired recommended). Warm lights are one of the reasons why paper white is our cheapest option for a paper Kindle, and although the Colorsoft Signature Edition has auto-tuned headlights, it’s a nice upgrade.
