“See you in the second game”: Dream11 no longer has paid competitions on the platform from paid to play to free playback

Dream Sports announced Friday that it had decided to stop all paid matches on Dream11. The development follows promotions and regulation of the Online Games Act of 2025, widely known as the Online Games Act, which also received the president’s consent after both parliaments were quickly cleared. Dream11 is a flagship brand owned and operated by sports technology company Dream Sports. Dream Sports is Umbrella Company Housing Dream 11.

A major change in Dream11! From paid games to free games…

Dream Sports entered Weibo site X (formerly Twitter) to announce its immediate transfer to a free online social gaming format. It wrote on X: “This morning, we stopped all paid matches on Dream11 and completely spinned to free online social games.”

Dream Sports said it “always” conducts business “always” in compliance with the law, saying “progressive regulations will be the right path forward.”

“We will respect the law and fully comply with the promotion and regulation of the Online Game Act 2025,” Dream Sports wrote.

Dream Sports also said it supports Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to make India a “global sports superpower.”

The online game law prohibits various currency-based online games across the country. For Dream Sports, the Lions’ revenue share is reportedly driven by Dream11’s paid competition, with a user base of about 2.8 billion.

Looking ahead, Dream Sports said it will rely on a wider portfolio to drive growth, including Fancode (Sports Media), Dreamsetgo (Sports Travel) and Dream Game Studios (Game Development).

Dream Sports wrote: “When we started this journey 18 years ago as a sports technology company, we were not even 1% of the size of the American fantasy sports industry. Dream11’s fantasy sports products are the way we ‘improve sports’ for the whole of India.”
