Threatening fundraising raised $14 million to simplify cybersecurity with a unified platform

The UK-based cybersecurity company threatening company has raised $14 million in Series A funding to expand the mission of simplifying enterprise security through a unified end-to-end platform.

The round was led by growth equity firm Expedition Growth Capital, which included key additions to Spenpike’s board of directors, including Will Sheldon, Expedition partner Will Sheldon and Emily Orton, co-founder of Darktrace.

Founded in 2011 by computer scientists Adam and Kate Blake, Threat Spike is based on the complexity and cost of traditional cybersecurity tools. The duo’s experience in some of the world’s most complex financial institutions draws on their ability to generate profitability in the company without external capital until now.

Threats are designed to replace fragmented multi-tool security strategies with a single platform that combines advanced technology and human experts’ support. Its flagship products, Threat Blue (24/7 Hosted Detection and Response), and Threat Red (Unlimited Penetration Testing), are used by over 200 customers in 90 areas, including hospitality, industry, investment management and professional services.

“For most organizations, cybersecurity has become too complex and expensive,” said CEO Adam Blake. “We took a fundamentally different approach – transparent pricing, no active sales, and a focus on providing real-world protection. With this investment in adventure, we found a partner that can share our values and can help us expand our platform globally.”

Investor Will Sheldon said Thrantspike’s strong organic growth and customer retention set it apart. “This is the highest level of customer referral-driven growth and satisfaction that we have seen in the cybersecurity space. We are excited to work with Adam and Adam and Kate as they continue to build a platform centered on innovation and outcomes.”

The company plans to use funds to expand its engineering, security operations and listing teams while accelerating the development of its core product roadmap. This includes further investments in automation, behavioral analytics, and real-time threat detection across cloud and hybrid environments.

DarkTrace co-founder Emily Orton joined the board as a non-executive director, calling the founder an “impressive entrepreneur” and said she looks forward to helping them expand their business in the next phase of growth.

Long-term customer Inchcape shipping service praised the company’s reliability and innovation. “Threat Spike has been delivering on their promises and going beyond the scope to tailor their services to our evolving needs,” said Lee Scott, head of cybersecurity. “We trust them completely through our cyber defense.”

With the need for simplified, results-based cybersecurity in an increasingly fragmented market, threats position themselves as an antidote of complexity, providing a fully managed single-plane solution for enterprise-level protection.
