Alexander Blockx made another emphatic statement at the PIF Next Generation ATP Finals in Jeddah on Thursday, where he secured a semi-final spot on his tournament debut.
The 20-year-old Belgian showed spirit under pressure, winning two crucial tie-breaks and continuing his impressive run with a 4-3(2), 4-3(8), 4-1 victory over Nishesh Basavareddy. Needing a straight-sets win to advance to the semifinals on Thursday, Brockers battled back to save three set points in a crucial second-set tiebreak before seizing control of the match.

After hitting 24 winners in his opening match against Justin Engel and adding 30 winners, second-seeded Bullocks showed his style in a high-energy, innovative exhibition in Jeddah. The 6-foot-4 powerhouse blends explosive groundstrokes with sharp court skills and even showed great defensive prowess against Basavaredi to become the first Belgian to reach the semi-finals in tournament history.
Earlier, Prizmic scored his first win in his debut match with a brilliant performance over energetic 18-year-old Justin Engel.
Third-seeded Prizmic won with an impressive combination of power and precision, 4-1, 2-4, 4-3(3), 4-1. The 20-year-old Croatian, who lost in four sets to Basava Reddi on Wednesday and now has a 1-1 record in the Red Group, will aim to qualify for the semi-finals when he faces Bloks, whom he defeated at the Lugano Challenger earlier this season.
Dino Prizmic got off to a slow start on his debut at the Next Generation ATP Finals presented by PIF, but he is back on track with a strong performance on Thursday afternoon.
The 20-year-old Croatian beat a spirited Justin Engel 4-1, 2-4, 4-3(3), 4-1 with impressive power and precision. Third-seeded Plizmic, who is now 1-1 in the red group after falling to Nishish Basavareddy in four sets on Wednesday, will aim to secure a semifinal spot against fellow debutant Alexander Bloks on Friday.
“certainly [it was a must win] If I want to stay and compete for the semifinals,” Prizmic said. “I’m very happy with my performance and I’m improving every game. It was a good game for me today.
“The conditions were really fast, so I just wanted to play better [than Wednesday] And use quick footwork. I’m happy with my performance from yesterday and I think tomorrow will be even better. “
In addition to a series of clean shots, Prizmic also sent the fans into a frenzy with a fierce backhand winner to earn a crucial break in the fourth set. He let out a roar knowing he still had a lot to give on his debut in Jeddah.
Prizmic’s 2025 ATP Challenger titles have all come on his favored clay courts, but he showed his grit and resilience on Thursday on indoor hard courts.
Basvareddy is one of two returners (also a Learner Tien) and will qualify for the semifinals if he defeats Blockx on Thursday.
