Trump confirmed the Tiktok agreement after calling XI, planning to visit early next year

U.S. President Donald Trump announced Friday that Washington and Beijing have reached a deal on Tiktok, adding that he will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the APEC summit in South Korea later in October and visit China “early next year.”
The news comes after the two leaders spoke over the phone, which was their first conversation in months. Trump described the call as “very productive” and noted that discussions involved trade, fentanyl trafficking, efforts to end the Russian-Ukrainian war and final approval of the Tiktok deal. He further confirmed that Xi Jinping will “go to the United States at due time.”
Trump wrote in The Society of Truth: “This call is a good call and stressed that both sides will continue to speak in the coming weeks.

Since returning to the White House, it marks a second call from Trump with Xi Jinping, where his administration imposed huge tariffs on Chinese goods, sparked retaliation measures and heightened tensions between the world’s two largest economies. Nevertheless, Trump has shown openness to trade arrangements, especially with Tiktok.
Tiktok ownership negotiations move forward
Trump praised Tiktok’s political influence, who repeatedly extended the deadline for dispatching the platform with Chinese parents. The move is addressing national security and data privacy issues in line with laws passed last year.
Trump said Thursday that Tiktok “has great value” and that the United States “has that value because we are the ones who have to approve it.”

Beyond Tiktok: Trade, Ukraine and Fentanyl
Trump said the conversation also achieved “many very important issues, including trade, fentanyl, the need to end the war between Russia and Ukraine”, besides Tiktok. Xi Jinping stressed the importance of U.S.-China relations and urged Washington to avoid imposing additional trade restrictions, a statement issued by Beijing said.
“Both sides need to work hard and in the same direction to achieve mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation,” the China statement said.
Trump said on Thursday that his relationship with China was “very good” but believed that Russia’s war in Ukraine could be restricted if European countries increase tariffs on China. He did not specify whether he planned new tariffs on Beijing’s purchase of Russian oil, a step he had taken against India.
