Zelenskyy Snubs Putin’s Moscow invitation says Russian president should come to Kyiv
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected an invitation to talks by Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, citing his country’s ongoing strikes. Zelenskyy said in an interview with foreign media on Friday (local time) that he could not access the capital of a country that continued to attack Ukraine every day, suggesting that if Putin really wanted a conversation, he should travel to Kiev.
Zelenskyy calls Moscow to offer unacceptable
“He can come to Kinfu. If a person doesn’t want to meet during the war, of course, he can come up with something that is acceptable to me or others. It’s understandable; I can’t go to Moscow when my country attacks my country every day. I can’t go to the capital of this terrorist,” Zelenskyy said.
He further accused the Russian president of turning the proposal into a political strategy rather than a real peace effort.

Putin’s signal is open for conditions
Putin reiterated at a press conference after four days of visit to China that he had a “never excluded” dialogue with Zelenskyy, but stressed that it must be consistent with Ukraine’s constitutional framework.
“I have said that I have never ruled out a meeting like this, but whether this can make sense under the Ukrainian constitution…it is possible; I will never rule out this meeting. If the meeting is fully prepared and brings a positive potential outcome, it is possible. It is possible,” he said.

NATO members are still red lines
Putin also reiterated his opposition to Ukraine’s accession to NATO, believing it as a direct threat to Russia’s national security, despite his objections to Kiev’s pursuit of EU members.
“We always oppose the idea of Ukraine becoming a member of the North Atlantic Union, but we never doubt its right to engage in its economic activities in any way we like, including EU membership,” he said.
Ukraine pushes toward neutrality
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha criticized Russian leaders after Putin’s speech, stressing that at least seven countries have proposed to preside over the negotiations, which makes Moscow’s proposal “consciously unacceptable.”
“At present, at least seven countries are ready to hold a meeting between Ukraine and Russian leaders to end the war. The performance of the three Gulf countries of Austria, Church, Switzerland, Switzerland, Turkey. These are serious proposals. This is a serious proposal, and President Zelenskyy can always work hard to improve the capacity of all people at any time. Take the peace process seriously,” Sybiha said in an article on X.
