Alex de Minaur sets onto the new ground in 2025.

On Saturday, PIF ATP ranked 7th in the 7th place alleviated his Rolex Shanghai Masters sport with a 6-4, 6-2 advantage. De Minaur won the 88-minute victory against Argentine Carabelli, a personal best 48th Tour victory in a season, making him the first Australian since Lleyton Hewitt, a world No. 1 in 2004.

“I’m happy with myself,” De Minaur said after his first Lexus ATP Head2head meeting with Carabelli. “I feel like I might have broken this record last year if I wasn’t injured. Returning this year and showing weekly and weekly consistency, I am proud of my efforts.

“Say, there are still a lot of tennis to play, so hopefully I can continue to add wins to that statistic. Keep doing my own thing, keep my head, work hard, keep working hard, keep coming, keep showing up and keep the confidence and motivation going forward.”

De Minaur has not faced a breakthrough point with Carabelli and now has 35 Tour-leading wins on hard courts in 2025, up from Carlos Alcaraz and Taylor Fritz (both 34). The Australian’s next challenge in Shanghai will be the fourth round meeting with Kamil Majchrzak, who beat 29th seed Brandon Nakashima 6-4, 6-0 to improve.

Another top ten star, Alexander Zverev, also had a blunt victory in the Shanghai opener, although the Germans had to pull the panic of late injuries before defeating Valentin Royer 6-4, 6-4.

Zverev seemed to have injured his right foot while playing 5-4 in the second set and after the first point of the game, he was treated by ATP Physio. The injury did not stop the world’s third from comfortably serving his victory, but he later admitted to feeling uncertainty about how serious the problem was.

“I’m very happy [to get through]Zverev said. “I don’t know, I’m having fun on my toes and I can hardly take a step after that, so we’ll see what it is. Of course, it’s not nice to be able to finish the game, but I think it’s absolutely happy with the level at the first round of the Masters. That’s great. He’s doing very well, moving forward, and we’ll see if I’ll be healthy again this year because it’s a struggle. But I’m so glad to get through.”

In another Saturday’s early move, Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Alejandro Tabilo with a 6-3, 6-3 victory to command fashion. The Canadian, the first since the U.S. Open and his first since his marriage on September 20, saved all seven breakthrough points he faced to eliminate Chengdu champion Tabilo and held a meeting with Jesper de Jong, who made the 17th seed Jakub Mensik Mensik Mensik 4-6, 7-6, 7-6 (7-6 (2), 6-4 years old.

With a second round victory, Zverev, De Minaur and Auger-Aliassime raised their hopes of qualifying for Nitto ATP finals. Zverev ranked third in the PIF ATP live game and strongly competed for his place in the prestigious season finale, while De Minaur was seventh behind Ben Shelton with 325 points.

Oscephia – Aliassime is still ranked 10th but 630 points behind Lorenzo Musetti, who beat Francisco Caseana 6-4, 6-0 on Saturday, currently occupying the final qualifying round. Zverev aims to win the eighth Nitto ATP final, with De Minaur and Auger-Aliassime both chasing a second appearance, while Musetti seeks his debut.
