According to the Ukrainian Exilenova+ Telegram channel, in addition to hitting the train station, Ukrainian drones also attacked the train line power substation in the town of Olovsky. The substation is about 35 miles northeast of Salsk and helps to provide electricity to the line.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that its troops shot down 74 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 22 of Rostov.

Tuesday’s attack was a strike in the Volgograd region on Sunday, which hit the electric substation that powered the same railway line.

According to the independent Russian governor, “Power power to the railway contact network in the Oktyabrsky area is damaged due to the decline of drone debris. Experts in operations and maintenance services, as well as Russian railways, are working to assess the damage and eliminate the consequences.” Astra News media.

The night drone strike caused the Volgagrad fire in Russia, cut railway power and stopped flights near Jutovo, and set up railway power substations.

Last week, Ukrainian drones hit another key railway hub in the region Military Ni Report. The publication explained that the attack took place in the “urban settlement of kamenolomna”. “Kamenolomni is one of the major railway junctions in the southern corridor and has important strategic importance. Located in southern Russia, along the donetsk-taganrog-taganrog-donetsk, the station plays an important role in the transportation of military equipment.”

These railway strikes “repeatedly target infrastructure along the railway line, which serves the supply of industrial and Russian forces, including Russian troops in Donetsk and Luhansk, a well-known Ukrainian Milblogger and reserve officer who took pseudonymous units as units tatarigami It is pointed out on X. “The model points to intentional and systematic efforts to disrupt the route.”

“In general, our team pointed out a systematic approach and made intentional goal selection.” tatarigamiFounder of Frontelligence Insight, the full source/OSINT/GEOINT analysis group. “The strike on the trains carried by fuel shows that Ukraine has detailed the timing of the attack.”

7/We have previously pointed out that this railway line is important due to its connection to major military industrial sites and facilities, including airports. At the same time, it is neither the largest nor the only line in the area, which shows a deeper intention after the strike

Ukraine is also attacking the front line of the Russian-occupied territory closer to the front line. In May, the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Agency (GUR) carried out a drone attack on Russian fuel trains in the Zaporizhzhia area. It was reported that this was the first attack within Ukraine in five months.

“At least three tankers were destroyed,” Gul said, saying in a version accompanying the release of the video, which showed multiple air hits from moving targets, resulting in a big explosion and a fire.

Goul relied on drones to strike. The Intelligence Agency also works with locals who support Ukraine. Guerrillas have been conducting sabotage attacks, blowing up railway lines, attacking trains and disabling railway equipment.

The agency claimed that “another successful operation of the resistance movement in cooperation with the Russian invaders” was conducted on June 26, 2025 in the occupied Zaporizhia.

“The railway tracks were destroyed due to the explosion,” Gur noted. “The movement of logistics actively used by Russian invaders was paralyzed for more than a week.”

A week later, the guerrillas attacked the locomotive again.

“The enemy’s locomotives are disabled,” Gur said. “One of the main logistics departments of the occupied forces in the Zaporizhzhia region was blocked again.”

Russia also attacked the Ukrainian railway. Last month, a missile attack on a passenger bus train in Dnipro injured several people, destroying several train cars and damaged roads. This is part of a larger attack on Dnipro, which killed at least 21 people.

Russians are constantly becoming less popular and cruel. I don’t remember them riding a train full of civilians and children before. Railway, yes…but no train.

Russia’s attacks on railways are far less than those carried out by Ukraine, and this seems to be increasing.

“There is an increase [on train attacks] Compared with 2023 and 2024, tatarigami Tell us. “Especially when we talk about successful tactical strikes.”

As Salsk Station is still in a state of depression, it is not clear whether Ukraine intends to land on this line again. There are other Russian train lines, which have greater logistical significance. tatarigami additional.

Attacks may be part of “some kind of shaping operation” before a larger attack tatarigami Being placed. “Or it’s just an isolated case where Ukraine just finds a vulnerable place and gets involved, without any further plans.”

Either way, Russian rail traffic was interrupted and rolling stocks were destroyed. Although the lasting effect is unclearas Ukraine continued to lose in the East, was forced to send troops to the northern part of Sumi to help resist the Russian offensive there. Repeated strikes on Russian railway logistics have helped to relieve some of the pressure.

Ukraine has been attacking Russian trains since the start of the full invasion, but its new long-range drone has brought the attack deeper into Russian territory.
