This alert is part of a behind-the-scenes warning based on current weather conditions. According to the IMD, a thunderstorm cell is approaching Delhi and approaching the adjacent area from the west/northwest. Under its influence, severe thunderstorms or dust-stimulated wind activity accompanied by frequent lightning and gusts (speeds reach 40-60 km/h or more) may affect part of the city within the next one to two hours.
The Ministry of Meteorology urges residents to take necessary precautions. IMD warns people to avoid open spaces and avoid sheltering under trees. They also ask citizens to avoid weak walls or structural instability and stay away from bodies of water.
Possible effects of thunderstorms include tree lifting and branch rupture. Crops such as bananas and papayas may suffer moderate damage, and limbs of dry trees may fall off due to strong winds. Sandstorms can also occur in certain areas of the city.
