World No. 204 Vacherot continues to run “incredible” to arrive at Shanghai QFS

Valentin Vacherot became the lowest-ranked quarterfinal in Shanghai’s history.

Valentin Vacherot is on the verge of tears as he advances to the quarterfinals of his Virgin 1000 season at the Rolex Shanghai Masters on Tuesday.
The first Monasque player to enter the historical Touring quarterfinals, qualifier Vacherot expelled Tallon Griekspoor 4-6, 7-6 (1), ending 10 minutes of battle after a win, two hours, 22 minutes of battle 6-4 after 1:00 a.m.
“That means everything.” “I don’t think I really realized what I’m doing all week and it all shocked me when I just won this game. I was so happy all week but without the roof, it was incredible.
“So much emotion is just thinking about the tough times I had last year, even this year. Sharing this with my coach, brother, girlfriend – it’s incredible that I’m one of the best times of my life now.”
Vacherot entered the week of World No. 204 and has since soared to No. 130 in the PIF ATP Live rankings. The 26-year-old is the lowest-ranked quarterfinal in Shanghai’s history.
“It’s 100% of the reward, on the bench last six months last year [due to injury],” Vacherot said. “Just close to the top 100… Luckily, I’ve been playing for free since January. That was incredible. I fell in Wimbledon [qualifying] In the first round, I got a few points from the victory. I won’t lie, I thought I’d be out for another few months. That was only a few weeks. Now, this is a reward for everything I have experienced. ”
Vacherot will next encounter the 10th seed Holger rune. When asked about his upcoming game, Vacherot said: “I don’t even know who I’m playing, I don’t look at the draw.”
