Harvard students jointly smear law firms criticizing anti-Semitism on campus: Report

A survey by conservative Washington Free Beacon found that Harvard’s anti-Israel law students plotted to smear numerous law firms against anti-Israel efforts.

Harvard’s student-led National Lawyers Guild is a left-wing legal advocacy group that held a chapter across the country, holding “Big Law, Big Secret: Wikipedia Editor-thon” on campus earlier this month. The event, led by a student in the history of an reported anti-Israel campaign, aims to “collect data to edit the Wikipedia pages of large law firms to reflect their recent cases.”

Two days later, more than a dozen law firms that criticized anti-Semitism on Harvard and other university campuses, including some jobs that canceled jobs from Harvard law students, saw their Wikipedia page.

The changes were made by a Wikipedia account associated with another Harvard law student with a history of anti-Israel advocacy, and the Free Beacon found that the changes effectively tried to make the law firm look bad in the eyes of liberals. Some changes also try to soften the language that criticizes campus anti-Semitism.

For example, a section on the Wikipedia page that describes its research case changed from “racial relations” to “separate defense.” The company's page also adds a lengthy section about its “Representative of Purdue Pharma,” a pharmaceutical company that has played a role in the opioid crisis by Democrats.

In 2023, Davis Polk revoked a job offer, which the company offered a job for the student’s leadership in organizing anti-Israel protests on campus. This is also one of the 100 law firms that sent a letter to Harvard in November 2023, urging its anti-Semitism plan on campus in Hamas on October 7, 2023, to attack the attack on Israelis.

Jones Day also signed the letter, whose Wikipedia page changed to include supplements about Walmart's protection from allegations of over-regulation of opioids, Second Amendment rights and “racial pickiness.”

Another signatory, Latham & Watkins, saw part of his work on cases related to Chevron's principles of respect, saying the company “eroded the agency's ability to protect civil rights, human health and the environment, and other critical public functions.”

Another signator of the November letter, Jenner & Block (Jenner & Block), criticized his representation in the lawsuit, criticizing whether its driver should be considered a full-time employee or contractor to add to its page.

Meanwhile, the editorial history of some companies that signed the letter, such as Simpson Thacher and Bartlett, made efforts to what happened on the university campus after the attack on Hamas. For example, Harvard Law’s account connected to students changed “a wave of anti-Semitism in the United States” to “a wave of protests in the Gaza war on the American page.” In addition, the “Anti-Semitic Incident at the American Elite Law School” was changed to “Pro-Palestine Protests at the American Elite Law School”.

Overall, 14 law firms have seen such changes, according to the Free Beacon survey. Jeff Neal, a Harvard spokesman, said Wikipedia Edit-a-Thon is organized by a student-run organization and “does not represent the perspective of Harvard Law School.”

Fox News Digital contacted Harvard University and its national organizations, but received no response.

Earlier this month, the Trump administration jointly combated anti-Semitism, freezing more than $2.2 billion in federal funding for Harvard University. The administration said that Harvard could take as much as $9 billion if it does not meet Trump's requirements for anti-Semitism and other federal directives.

The Trump administration is also looking for ways to strip Harvard from tax-free status after the school said it did not comply with the president's request in the first 100 days of his tenure related to campus anti-Semitism, DEI and other policy priorities.
