What record can Djokovic continue in Shanghai?

Can Djokovic further rewrite history at the Rolex Shanghai Masters?
The Serbian holds the record for most ATP Masters 1000 titles (40), finals (60) and semi-finals (79), according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, and he has a chance to extend those records this week in China, where he has reached the quarter-finals.
Djokovic already has the most titles in the tournament’s history, four, and is three wins away from lifting a record fifth trophy. This will be his first Masters 1000 win since the 2023 Rolex Paris Masters.
However, this is not the only Masters 1000 event where he has won more titles than any other player. In fact, he holds the record for most titles in the series, more than anyone else.
The former PIF ATP No. 1 holds the record for most trophies, or is tied for most trophies, at four of the nine Masters 1000 events on the current ATP Tour calendar. He tied for first place in Indian Wells (fifth, with Roger Federer) and Miami (sixth, with Andre Agassi), while dominating Shanghai and Paris.
Members of ATP’s No. 1 club dominate the winner’s circle at Masters 1000 events. The player with the most titles in nine matches has climbed to No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings during his career.
Rafael Nadal has the most titles at three clay-court Masters 1000 events in Monte Carlo (11), Madrid (5) and Rome (10), Ivan Lendl has won the Canadian title six times and Federer has won seven in Cincinnati.
But no one can match Djokovic’s success at this level. The Serb has twice as many Masters 1,000 trophies as any player in the series’ history (since 1990) except Nadal (36) and Federer (28).
Djokovic, 38, is now the oldest 1000m Masters quarter-finalist in the series’ history following his success in Shanghai and will try to build on his record when he takes on Zizou Burgess for a semi-final spot on Thursday.
