Carlos Alcaraz, Yannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic top the entry list for April’s Rolex Monte Carlo Masters, the first clay-court ATP Masters 1000 event of the season.
Nine of the top 10 players in the current PIF ATP rankings will compete in the tournament, which takes place in Monaco from April 5-12. American Ben Shelton is the only member of the top ten who is not scheduled to compete.
Alcaraz returns as the defending champion after winning the title last year, when he endured three decisive victories in his quest for the trophy. The Sinner, ranked No. 2 in the world, has reached the tournament’s semifinals twice and has a 10-4 record in Monte Carlo, according to the Infosys ATP Win-Loss Index.
Two-time champion Djokovic will be looking to make a comeback after losing to Alejandro Tabilo in the first round in 2025. Former champion and three-time champion Stefanos Tsitsipas and 2023 titleholder Andrei Rublev are also on the list.
2024 Next Generation ATP Finals champion Joao Fonseca is set to make his Monte Carlo debut, while rising star Jakub Mensik will also appear. Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot will return to his hometown ATP Masters 1000 event for the first time since winning the Shanghai title last October.
Other players who were not on the original roster but would have earned a spot in the main draw include Holger Ruhn, who is dealing with an Achilles injury, Tommy Paul, Lerner Tian, Brandon Nakajima, Janson Brooksby and Alex Michelson.
As of the release of the entry list, the last player in the main draw is Marin Cilic, ranked 51st in the world.
