“It's a contract,” Kaplan told Deadline As Helford added, Wednesday, April 23, “She was very kind to allow us to continue the show because she had a say in that.”
Helford recalled the initial impact of Barr's exit, saying: “When she realized that it would put 300 people out of work when the initial reboot was cancelled, she gracefully allowed us to continue without her. It was really about these people. The show was really about these other people's lives, about the family, the lives of other people in Conners, and we wanted to focus on them.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Helford Connors Found a solution to Barr's character, whose character was killed before the 2018 sitcom.
“It's always mentioned. We never shy away from it,” he added. “The family loves their patriarch. For the ending, we think it's right to respect the character and respect Roseanne himself.
Roseanne Originally aired on ABC from 1988 to 1997. After a brief revival in 2018, and after Barr finally quit the series from controversial social media posts, the story turns into Connors. The derivatives were created without Barr's involvement, and she never revealed them.

“I just can’t stand it, so I don’t [watch],” Barr, 72, told Los Angeles Times February 2023. “It’s my message when they kill my character, knowing that I already have a mental illness or have a mental health issue, they do want me to commit suicide.”
She continued: “They killed my character. … All of this is thanks for the 28 million viewers you brought, they never had and never saw it again. Because they could kiss my ass.”

In the final season, Barr had no mention of the on-screen. Instead, she has been focusing on her career since she settled in Texas.
“We have 30 acres of land that live in what they call ‘Hill Country’,” Barr’s son Jake Pentland shared exclusively with Us Weekly earlier this month. “Roseanne also drives tractors frequently, which allows her to mow the lawn. She drives around. She occasionally encounters trees, but just keeps the yard in the yard.”
Pentland hinted that Barr might move to Florida again, adding: “She also has a lot of close friends living in Palm Beach, who are always hanging out, shopping and going to dinner. She is very low-key in Palm Beach and loves to sit on a boat with friends or on the beach.”
