Downpours in Melbourne on Wednesday night kept Cameron Norrie on his toes as heavy rain disrupted the Australian Open, which has resumed on covered courts.
Briton Norrie beat Emilio Nava 6-1, 7-6(3), 4-7, 6-6 (4/3) in a fourth-set tiebreaker on Court 7 when the sky opened, but the Briton returned after a delay of about an hour to win in four sets. Three other men’s singles matches that were also suspended resumed within 30 minutes as the matches were played on courts with retractable roofs.
Home hope Alex De Minaur leveled 6-7(5), 6-2 with Hamad Mededovic at Rod Laver Arena, Frances Tiafoe tied Francesco Comesana 2-2 in the first set at Margaret Court Arena and Alexander Zverev held a 6-3, 4-6, 4-2 lead against Alexander Muller at John Cain Arena.
