DPWH stops bidding for all locally funded projects

Public Works and Highways (DPWH) have suspended bidding processes for all locally funded projects, consistent with the ongoing government investigation into alleged violations in flood control projects.

“I will order today in all ongoing bids in all locally funded projects nationwide,” Public Works and Highway Secretary Vivencio B. Dizon said in a news conference Wednesday.

The suspension will be valid for two weeks and is not applicable to foreign-funded projects.

“All foreign aid projects will continue because I am satisfied that foreign funders are monitoring it, but all projects currently being auctioned by the state and region are being suspended,” he said.

The decision follows the ongoing investigation of the government’s report on the flood control project under the DPWH.

The department has submitted a list of more than 9,000 projects completed between July 2022 and May 2025. Of these projects, 160 have been verified and 15 have been reportedly lost or unassigned.Ashley Erika O. Jose
