Will NSE, BSE, banks, schools, offices be closed on August 15?

There are three national holidays in the country’s Independence Day (August 15), Republic Day (January 26) and Gandhi Jayanti (October 2). They all celebrate nationwide.

Stock Market Holiday August 2025: Stock Markets will close tomorrow on August 15, Independence Day. India will celebrate its 79th Independence Day on Friday.

In addition to the stock market, banks and schools will also be closed on this day.

Stock Market on August 15

On the same day, no transactions will be made in equity, derivatives, securities loans or borrowings, currency derivatives or electronic gold income.

The NSE holiday calendar shows that there are two planned market holidays in August: Ganesh Chaturthi August 27, and Independence Day August 15.

The Multi-Commodity Exchange (MCX) will also be closed on August 15 at morning and evening meetings.

Bank holidays on Independence Day

On this auspicious occasion, the bank will also observe the holidays in all cities as it is a national holiday.

School holidays on August 15

Yes, all schools will also be closed during the Independence Day holiday in India. In schools, celebrations are usually completed one day or two days ago.

Office and business holidays
In addition to schools and universities, most government and private offices will also be closed on August 15

Basic Services
However, basic services such as hospitals, emergency wards and public safety departments will be provided as usual.

Public Transport
Public transport such as buses and subways will operate as usual.
