  • Many commenters support her, one said, “It is a relief to hear a woman say I say it’s not to harm my work”

A woman who refuses to take care of her stepdaughter working at home is arguing with her partner’s ex.

The frustrated 33-year-old woman explained in an article on a popular forum in the UK that her work in managing the financial team in local authorities is highly demanding and stressful. She doesn’t have any biological children, but her partner is 33 years old and has a 9-year-old daughter from a former relationship who often interrupts her work.

“Whenever my stepdaughter is bad, or it’s a school holiday and her mother doesn’t arrange suitable child care, she always asks me to take care of her because ‘I work from home so I can take care of her’,” the woman said. “Every time she asks me, I always say no.”

Her refusal is now causing tension between her stepdaughter’s mother and partner, because there is an argument that she should make herself look for a girl.

“But I don’t understand why going to a job site where I can’t take care of my children is different from a WFH (working from home) person,” the woman continued, “I’m attending meetings, training, phone calls, I don’t have TV/music silence when I’m working. I need to focus. I can’t take care of a child when I’m working too.”

The woman added that sometimes she was asked to work from the office. But when she is out of reach, she expects her to “be able” to take care of her stepdaughter.

“It wouldn’t help that stepdaughter didn’t listen to me too much,” she said. “When I asked her to do something or not, she often ignored me and I had to repeat it 10 times or ask her father to classify her.”

The woman said she knew her role in her stepdaughter’s life but didn’t want to compromise on her career.

“My career is important. I don’t have children of my own, yes, I respect and understand having a daughter with a partner, so that brings other factors, but I can’t see how it should affect my work,” she said.

Most users try to assure women that they are not wrong and question why they are not asked for care from their fathers.

“You’re not even wrong, but I wonder what her father and mom are doing parenting share when they’re sick or on holidays?” one wrote.

Another added: “Heard a woman saying I said I didn’t compromise on my job to meet someone else’s demands! Absolutely not.”

It also proposed working from home and still working instead of free daycare.

“WFH doesn’t mean you can take care of your kids while you work. I’m not with my own kids,” one user said.

In the latest news on her post, the woman said the child’s biological mother “asked me directly, she never went to my partner to ask, always gave me directly.” And retweeted her partner that his daughter would not be with her if she didn’t listen after another misfortune of her being ignored.
