Zelensky praises EU’s “timely” sanctions plan
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the EU for its 18th set of sanctions against Russia and called for further punitive measures against Moscow in case of an invasion of Ukraine three years ago.
“This decision is essential, especially now, in response to Russia’s cruelty intensifying strikes in our cities and villages,” Zelensky wrote on X.
He highlighted measures against deals related to gas pipelines and Russian tankers.
“The 18th sanctions program continues to target Russia’s tanker fleet – not only the vessel itself, but also the captains of the Shadow Fleet and the companies that have achieved such acts of oil funding.”
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said this is one of the sanctions so far.

He said Russia must be forced to fall into a “full and unconditional ceasefire and end the war against Ukraine.”
