Italian cyclist Samuele Privitera is 19 years old after crashing in race

His team announced that cyclist Samuele Privitera died of injury in a crash on the first phase of the Valle D’Aosta tour in Italy. He is 19 years old.
Privitera reportedly hit the speed, lost control of the bike, and hit her head when hitting the obstacle.
According to Italian media reports, he hit a descendant of about 35 kilometers from the finish line at a speed of nearly 70 kilometers per hour.

He reportedly lost his helmet in the process.
Racial organizers said the crash was “still unclear and is being investigated by public safety authorities.”
Privitera is a member of the Hagens Berman Jayco team. Axel Merckx, director of the team, issued a statement about the death of a teenager.
“Sumel was and will always be the life and personality of this team,” Merckx said. “This team has always been a small family and such moments are unimaginable.
“He is irreplaceable. His joy, his spirit, his kindness is always the bright light of any room or race in which he was at that time. Losing his words goes beyond words.”

The Tour de France took a minute to applaud in the twelfth stage Thursday in honor of private.
“It’s sad to lose another young talent today. It’s devastating,” the Tour de France said before Thursday’s stage. “I think it’s one of the most dangerous sports in the world, and sometimes the risks we have to take are too far. But, I’m really sad about his family. May he rest in peace.”
Valle d’Aosta’s tour was shelved Thursday and will resume on Friday.
“This news shocked us and forced us to think more decisively about how to make the race safer,” said Cordiano Dagnoni, president of the Italian Bicycle Federation, in a statement. “The federal government has set up a committee some time ago to develop recommendations on the matter, and we keep updating regulations every year to ensure that such incidents never happen again.
