Urman realized that after the first season was full of twists and turns, expectations were high.
“When the first episode aired, we were filming the bubble of episode 17 was both difficult and fun. We were already on the way, and now we were airing, so we were talking to the audience, and I tried to realize it, but it wasn't seen so we were still telling the story,” she explained. “But I always thought that if there was a problem – they found a problem – I could solve this problem more and more. I hope Olympia will surprise the audience and Matty, just as Matty surprised us in the first episode,” Ulman said. “It's always been the plan. When will we reveal Marty for a while in Olympia. It's about Episode 13 or Episode 14. All the ways to load the ending makes it feel like we're in the right order.”
What changes are there – or aren't included in the final version?
As the season progresses, Matlock has undergone a “small change”.
“We were very close to this document at the start of the season, which is about 30 or 40 pages and it does tell the story through the plot. So we put the material very close, but we flip it. us. “Olympia is going to discover Marty’s secret earlier. CBS is really great. I said, ‘In the ending, I have more stories than an episode.’ They let the creativity decide that.

Why was Julian the final choice?
Throughout the season, all signs point to Olympia and Senior (Beau Bridges)Julian proved to be the one who was at fault.
“He's important to the people who are crucial to Matty, and it's Olympia. Olympia is important to Marty and Julian to her. It's going to be in the toughest dilemma. If it's older, it's easier because everyone will be like, because everyone will be like, 'Okay, let him step in and blow it up.'' He's definitely burning enough people and building enough enemies,'” the screenwriter shared. “But Julian wasn't that character. He did horrible things, did great things, had life, history and shared parenting. It really made him a complicated character. I just liked how Jason Ritter was in that scene when he begged for Olympia. He explained that he made a mistake that prevented him from honestly playing his attitude throughout his life.
Urman didn’t want a good choice, he said: “There are only bad choices, and everyone is compelling in every way. That’s what makes the dilemma really difficult and the drama really rich and strong. It allows us to enter the next season with so many levels and different competitive agendas and tensions. It’s just an exciting season two.”
Does this mean that Julian will be explored more?
“He did this horrible thing, he hid secrets. He also tried to redeem himself, and he was fighting for his life,” Ulman shared. “It just made him play on many different levels and allowed the interaction with Matty to load in different ways. It allowed Olympia's interaction to load in different ways. We have more interactions now because he has been so specifically integrated into that major plot. We can see more of him, and I think it makes everyone happy.”
