Swiatek tests at the U.S. Open to face Kalinskaya in the third round – Tennis Now

Today, Swiatek was a little mess in the second set, but cleaned up her behavior in a lot of deciding with the Arthur Ashe Stadium decision-maker today.

Of course, after SW19 tamed McNally, Swiatek went on to capture her Wimbledon Crown. She hopes today’s test will prepare her for the Flushing Meadows battle.

“Okay, just under pressure, figured out, solved the problem, and that’s always taken from similar games,” Swiatek said. “Perhaps playing on Ashe for a longer time, because as usual, practicing the court is completely different.”

When Swiatek faces Anna Kalinskaya, it is crucial that Tennis’ numbers first.
Kalinskaya overcomes eight double failures in a victory over Yulia Putintseva 6-1, 7-5 in Game 12.
Kalinskaya, the 29th seed, hit 18 winners, and Putintseva beat the U.S. Open for the second time.
“Well, for sure, it’s going to be hard,” Swiatek said of the third round. “She likes the faster surface. I obviously didn’t watch her here because a lot of things happened, but I’ll be tactical like any other game and I’ll be ready.”

Although Swiatek rejected Russia 6-3, 6-4 in the quarterfinals in Cincinnati earlier this month, Kalinskaya knows what it takes to beat Swiatek on a hard ground. Kalinskaya beat Swiatek 6-4, 6-4 in the 2024 Dubai semifinals.
Kalinskaya has pure and powerful backhands, and she waved to the Washington, D.C. finals earlier this summer. Swiatek said the third round will be the first strike.
“Well, she’s a fat guy, she likes to be proactive and aggressive from the first ball,” Swiatek said.
